How to Add Relationship Lines Between Topics
Relationship lines help show connections between topics that aren't directly linked in your diagram. These visual connectors clarify hierarchies and associations in your mind maps. Follow these steps to create and customize relationship lines.
Step ❶ Open Your Diagram
- Launch EdrawMind on your device
- Open an existing file or select a template from the Gallery

Step ❷ Enable Hand Drawn Mode
- Tap the Hand Drawn Style icon in the top toolbar
- This activates freeform drawing capabilities

Step ❸ Select Relationship Tool
- Choose the Relationship icon from the pop-up menu
- The cursor will change to indicate relationship mode

Step ❹ Draw Connection Between Topics
- Use your stylus (or finger) to draw from one topic to another
- The line will automatically snap to connect both topics

Pro Tip:
For straight lines, draw quickly between nodes. For curved connections, draw slowly with your desired arc.
Step ❺ Customize Relationship Style
- Tap the relationship line to select it
- Choose Style Settings from the pop-up menu
- Adjust:
- Line style (solid, dashed, dotted)
- Line color and thickness
- Arrowhead style and direction

Step ❻ Remove Relationships
- Tap the relationship line you want to delete
- Select Delete from the pop-up menu
- The connection will be removed immediately

Relationship lines don't affect the actual hierarchy of your mind map - they only provide visual connections.
