Anu Malik Family Tree Explained
Anu Malik, coming from a family of musicians, is a music composer, score composer, and singer. A renowned personality in the Bollywood music industry, he has earned a lot of awards, including the National Film Award and the Filmfare Award. Let’s learn more about his family lineage and legacy with this family tree.
Parents
Sardar Malik, Anu’s father, was a successful music director and score composer. He came to Bombay in the 1940s as a trained Kathakali and Bharatnatyam choreographer. During this time in the city, he was given the title “Saranga Man” for notable hits. Sardar died in January 2006 after going through a prolonged illness.
Sardar married Kausar Jahan, the sister of the renowned lyricist Iqbal Hussain. Together, the couple had three sons, Anu Malik, Daboo Malik, and Abu Malik, who would later follow their father’s footsteps. Kausar died on July 25, 2021.
Spouse
Anu Malik married Anjali Vasudev Bhat, popularly known as Anju Malik. They met for the first time at Mithibai College, when Anu was 22 and Anju was 21. The couple had a long courtship period before they decided to settle down.
Children
Anu and Anju are blessed with two daughters, Ada Malik and Anmol Malik. Anmol Malik, also known by her pen name, Audrey Piano, works in Bollywood, like her father. She is a lyricist, singer, composer, and author. She has sung for Umrao Jaan, Biwi No. 1, Sonali Cable, and more.
Ada, the younger Malik sister, is a fashion designer with a formal degree from Parsons School of Design in New York. She also appeared on an Indian dance show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 10, along with Shyam Yadav.
Siblings
Anu Malik has two younger brothers, Daboo Malik and Abu Malik.
Israr Sardar, popularly known as Daboo Malik, is a music director, scriptwriter, and singer like his brother. He wasn’t always passionate about music and began working in the industry as an actor. Some of his notable projects were Mahabharat, Beta Ho To Aisa, and Baazigar. However, in the 2000s, he switched to music and directed his first solo album, “Yeh Zindagi ka Safar” in 2001. Daboo married Jyoti, who mostly leads a private life.
Abdul Malik or Abu Malik, the youngest son of Sardar Malik, is an event manager, unlike others in the family. He is known for organizing live shows and music productions. Reportedly, Abu has produced over 10,000 shows under his company, Musicman Malik Entertainment. Though he is not always in the limelight, Abu made a public appearance in Big Boss 13 as a contestant. Abu had a marriage arranged with Poonam Malik, and the couple had two children.
Niblings
Anu Malik has two nephews, Armaan and Amaal Malik, from his brother Daboo.
Amaal Malik, the elder of the two, is a music composer, singer, and director. He had a liking for musical instruments since childhood and studied piano at the Trinity College of Music. Amaal has produced famous background scores for MS. Dhoni, Rowdy Rathore, Rajkumar, Heroine, and many more. While you will mostly find him in the news for a rift with his parents, Amaal shares a close bond with his brother Armaan Malik.
Like his elder brother, Armaan Malik is also a playback singer, producer, songwriter, and actor. He can sing in multiple languages and owns a record label called Arista Records. Previously, he has also represented labels such as T-Series and Universal Music India. Armaan announced his engagement to Aashna Shroff in 2023, and both got married in a private ceremony in January 2025.
His other two niblings, Aadar Malik and Kashish Malik, are from Abu Malik.
Aadar Malik is the older son of Abu and Poonam Malik, an actor, musician, and stand-up comedian. His first stand-up comedy show was at 18, The Store. Following this, he has made several appearances in SNG Comedy, The Canvas Laugh Club, and Comedy Store. Aadar married his long-term girlfriend, Aparna Bajpai, on August 4, 2021.
Aadar’s younger sister, Kashish Malik, leads a private life, unlike other cousins. She was once seen in early 2022, addressing her personal journey of embracing hijab. Kashish also revealed how her religious choices led to professional struggles.
